A man has been arrested at an address in central London following the discovery of three kilos of cocaine in a cargo shipment at Heathrow which originated in Ecuador. The drug has an estimated street value of £300,000.
The accused man, Jacob Babatunde Oke of Newham, East London, appeared in court at the weekend and was remanded in custody charged with attempting to smuggle cocaine, a class-A drug, into the UK through Heathrow Airport.
Oke is an Irish national.
Border Force Heathrow Director, Marc Owen, said: “Border Force officers are on constant alert to keep illegal drugs and other banned substances out of the UK.
“Drug trafficking is a serious offence and those convicted face long prison sentences.”
