Passengers on Heathrow Express can now travel using just a mobile phone app instead of a printed ticket.

Tickets can be booked on the move with a PIN transaction – ideal for arriving passengers as they walk for through the terminal or wait for their luggage.

In addition, the app displays the time of the next train departure and live service updates.

Fraser Brown, commercial director, said: “This slick new app will help improve the Heathrow experience particularly for frequent flyers. Tickets appear directly on your smartphone, so there’s no need to queue at any point.”
The new app, launched this month, also allows users to save multiple payment cards (the app has PCI DSS security compliance). It provides advanced service notifications based on travel dates as well as the ability to manage personal details on the move.

The company believes it will prove particularly popular with business travellers who represent 69% of its customer base.
