Heathrow is to open its first independent lounge at Terminal 5 this summer offering an alternative to the British Airways’ corporate lounges

The ‘Aspire, the Lounge and Spa’ located near gate 18, will be available to anyone travelling through the terminal regardless of their class of travel.

Details of its facilities and costs were not immediately available although it will offer “a blend of refreshing spa facilities” and will have a “modern and innovative design” according a statement.

It will be particularly welcome by passengers travelling on BA economy tickets who wish to pay for lounge facilities. Priority Pass members will be able to use its facilities.

Aspire is a joint venture between Collinson Group and Swissport.

Shaun Weston, Swissport’s travel services director, said: “Since launching in 2012, the Aspire lounges have grown in popularity and now cover many global destinations.

“The opening of Aspire, the Lounge and Spa at LHR T5 offers real value to travellers and we are excited to partner with Collinson Group to deliver this premium service.”

Errol McGlothan, General Manager EMEA at Collinson Group said: ‘We are delighted to have the opportunity to open an independent lounge at Terminal 5, one of the most important terminals in the world.

“Insight from Heathrow indicates that travellers are very keen for us to offer them this exciting new facility and meet their desire for somewhere to rest and recharge.”
