Air Mauritius reinforced its reputation as a forward-thinking airline when it showcased its new ‘clean and comfortable’ A330-900neo prior to use on the Heathrow route.
The aircraft, the first of its kind to operate on the Indian Ocean, will bring “new levels of passenger comfort and a 25 per cent advantage in fuel burn and CO2 emissions” said the airline.
The addition means that Air Mauritius will be the first airline to operate both the A350 XWB and the A330-900neo, a significant commitment to energy efficient aircraft. It is the only airline to currently offer direct services between Heathrow and Mauritius – a flight of around 12 hours.
Of the 288 cabin seats on board the new A330, 28 are business class seats featuring a state-of-the-art entertainment system, individual 15.4-inch HD LED screen and aisle access. Guests flying economy class will also benefit from an elevated and more comfortable experience as the A330-900neo model boasts 18-inch-wide seats, individual 11.1-inch HD LED screens, the quietest cabin in its category and an overall more spacious cabin layout. Full LED ambient lighting will also ensure guests feel less fatigued with reduced jetlag once they reach their destination.
Somas Appavou, CEO of Air Mauritius said: “I am delighted to welcome our first Airbus A330neo, another milestone in our fleet modernisation programme. The addition of two new A330neos to our fleet will bring more flexibility and efficiency to our operations, while supporting our network strategy.
“The A330neo offers similar levels of comfort as the A350 XWB, which has received very favourable feedback from our guests. I strongly believe that with the addition of the A330neo to our fleet, Air Mauritius will further reinforce its focus and emphasis on the customer, who are the very core of our business model.”
Ian Nash, Regional Manager of UK and Ireland for Air Mauritius added: “We are confident that this new cutting-edge aircraft will provide the perfect start for our passengers to begin their holiday to Mauritius and are proud to be the first operator to introduce this aircraft to the Indian Ocean on our route from the UK.”
“Air Mauritius is renowned for providing guests and visitors to Mauritius with a welcoming experience that reflects the culture and hospitality of our beautiful island, as soon as they step on-board. The quality of the new on-board product will perfectly complement the warm Mauritian welcome as well as our diverse menu choice and quality service.” he said.
