Virgin asks staff to take three months unpaid leave, cuts routes

Virgin Atlantic have asked staff to take three months’ unpaid leave as the economic impact of the Coronavirus outbreak hits the travel industry.

The airline has also taken the decision to gradually reduce its operational capacity and will cut four fifths of its flights to ease the financial burden which has so far crippled the industry.

Virgin’s Heathrow-Newark route has been suspended with immediate effect.
