The Queen arrives to open the £32 million pound extension to Heathrow’s terminal 2 as part of the airports 50th anniversary celebrations. The building was knocked down a mere 14 years later as part of a major redevelopment which included an entirely new terminal building.
Her majesty went on to tour a specially-created exhibition which included a tented area reminiscent of Heathrow’s early days.
